Contra Costa County to stop prosecuting assaults, thefts and burglaries due to budget cuts - militia to patrol Stockton?

When I first saw the headline I thought it was about "Costa Rica".  I suppose my brain could not conceive that a CALIFORNIA wealthy county like Contra Costa would no longer prosecute criminals.

The deputies in my county have never done more than take reports or write tickets, but I'm in Arizona.

The problem is not bankers, it's society [and lawyers]

A rather incredible British report "will deliver a damning verdict on capitalism and demand a radical shift to a fairer, more sustainable society." I haven't bothered to post the daily bad news about unemployement, stocks and economic data, it's rather pointless.  I'm making bio char today and planting some seeds.

Banks are NOT listing many foreclosed homes for sale

CNN Money wrote an interesting article on the banks' failures to list many foreclosed properties for sale.

Apparently, the real estate market is in much worse shape than has been reported because many bank owned properties are not included in the MLS statistics.

Just because Williams was right about the oil prices dropping doesn't mean that he'll ALWAYS be right.  After all, he doesn't claim to be psychic or that God talks to him, he only tells what his sources tell him.  THEY could be wrong or deliberately feed him false forecasts.

Parts of Europe in depression and California prepares to stop payments and to print IOUs

What do Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania and Bulgaria have in common?

They're all in deep doodoo.  And this is probably not a complete list of European countries with tremendous economic and monetary problems.
